Rita Rolley is from Fregon on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara/ Yankunytjatjara Lands in the far north-west of South Australia; Rita was born at Imampa inn the Northern Territory. She moved to Fregon when she married Arnie Frank and they have four children and numerous grandchildren.
An Aboriginal Pitjantjatjara women with strong connection to her traditional heritage, Rita's strong sense of place and independent personality shows in her individualistic style. Her paintings have a contemporary edge depicting an instinctive, creative use of image and colour which continues to be informed by her traditional culture.
Rita's attention to detail is evident in the fine brush work of the hand painted necklaces and beautifully finished carved, wooden bowls and animals with intricate designs made with the' hot wire' technique. Tjanpi baskets, birds and sculptures show the same whimsy, humour and truly unique creativity.
Rita is an accomplished painter and a valued member of Kaltjiti Arts. Rita paints vivid topographical views of the colours and landforms of the desert country of the *APY Lands. Contour lines follow the small hills, ridges of sandhills, circular rockholes and winding creeks. Wildlflowers dot the vast plains. Vibrant colourful and bold interpretations of the bush, are typical of Rita's style.
Rita is a talented artist from Fegon on the *APY Lands. Her unique composition and the contemporary edge to her work reflects a keen sense of place retaining the importance of traditional country as inspiration for her art.

Kaltjiti Arts and Crafts is a community based, Aboriginal art centre in the remote community of Fregon in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands of South Australia. The heart of the small community is the art centre which is a place of inspiration, dynamism and a cultural focal point.
Through their artworks, elders and senior artists teach younger generations about important cultural traditions and stories, passing on knowledge that has come to them from their ancestors.
Katjiti Arts is known as an art centre with diversity of aesthetic and a depth of talent. Senior male artists Witjiti George and Taylor Copper are joined by senior women, Manitjanu Lennon, Imitjala Curley, Matjangka Norris and Kathy Maringka, all exploring Tjukurpa of the region. Senior artists enjoy the opportunity of working together on collaborative major works, which are also used to teach younger generations skills in painting technique and story telling. It is this commitment to Tjukurpa and traditional painting technique which has allowed Kaltjiti Arts to establish a reputation as being an art centres of that creates artworks of the highest quality, which are also rich in cultural integrity.
